My news, My way - What I find the most interesting - Not the biggest/boldest headlines

LATimes:
"Jerry Brown apologized to his Republican counterpart Meg Whitman on Tuesday for a slur directed at her by an associate, an apology that Whitman did not explicitly accept"
The fact that she couldn't accept the apology further demeans her in my eyes, and enamors me of Brown.

Rolling Stone:
As you are aware, just last week the Anchorage Daily News reported that the Denali KidCare Program funded 662 abortions last year. Senator Murkowski has been a champion of this program, voting against the majority of her Republican colleagues for CHIPRA (HR 2) in January of 2009.
Of course it now turns out that back in the Nineties, Miller himself and his three children (with one on the way; he now has eight) were at one point receiving assistance via a program almost exactly like the Denali KidCare program, which is only for low-income earners."
Will the TP'ers EVER stop shooting themselves in their feet?

Income Tax vs. Sales Tax
I did a separate, long post on this.  My home state of WA has an initiative on the ballot to implement an income tax.  The state I'm presently residing in (VA) is trying to reduce or eliminate its income tax.

CNN:
"The lead Mexican investigator in the Falcon Lake case, Rolando Armando Flores Villegas, has been killed, his severed head delivered Tuesday in a suitcase to the Mexican military, officials told CNN."
This is horrific.  And I feel strongly that the U.S. is largely due to blame for the instability of Mexico.  We buy their drugs.  They buy our guns.  We need to legalize pot (see my post on this: http://ojodts.blogspot.com/2010/09/legalize-pot-its-smart-thing-to-do.html)

The Oklahoman
"City council members expressed disappointment Tuesday night by the level of hostility expressed toward the gay community, which may have contributed to the death last week of a Norman man, officials said."
Why can't people just mind their own damn business?  OK is a very conservative state, but what about the conservative mantra of self sufficiency, personal rights, small government and hands off government?  Oh, it doesn't apply to gays.
