My news, my snide comments & sarcasm Tue 1019010

NPR - Headline: "Let the drug companies police themselves!  Free market is the beat way!  Regulation is not needed!  "But an investigation by ProPublica has uncovered hundreds of doctors receiving company payments who had been accused of professional misconduct, were disciplined by state boards or lacked credentials as researchers or specialists."
It blows my mind that so many people, especially the elderly, support candidates, TP'ers, R's etc., that advocate deregulation of drug companies etc.

AP: "Crystal Cathedral megachurch files for bankruptcy"
I've always been suspicious of these "mega churches".  To me church is a private, intimate experience.  Churches that are too large are impersonal and overwhelming.  More like going to a sporting event that seeking enlightenment.  And the "mega" salaries that the clergy draw in these churches is not what I would want my donations to go towards.

AP: "China a surprise leader in clean energy: study"
This is just sad.  the U.S. is the world wide leader in technology, space and other things.  That we should fall behind on this important matter is beyond reason.  I did a post on some things that we have done to lead to this failure.

AP: "$900,000 for a 3-bedroom ... in Haiti?"
Haiti is a land of amazing contrasts.  I read a book recently called "Mountains Beyond Mountains about a doctor who has dedicated his life to helping Haitians.  And it's my understanding that relatively little of the $ that has been committed to helping this impoverished nation has actually been spent.  And Haiti has mostly fallen out of the news.

Blue Virginia
"MY DOG
I went down this morning to sign up my Dog for welfare.
At first the lady said, "Dogs are not eligible to draw welfare".
So I explained to her that my Dog is black, unemployed, lazy, can't speak
English
and has no frigging clue who his Daddy is.
So she looked in her policy book to see what it takes to qualify...
My Dog gets his first check Friday."
Is this is a great country or what?

Don't the R's even want the black vote?  What would this leader of the VB Republicans think of a joke about Caucasians?

"To suggest that Islam is not a religion is quite simply ridiculous. Each branch of the federal government has independently recognized Islam as one of the major religions of the world,"
To have to defend the validity of Islam as a religion in this country of supposed "Freedom of Religion" is very sad.

LA Times: "Prop. 23 foes pouring money into campaign"
We are falling behind China in developing and manufacturing the technology to move toward green, sustainable energy.  CA is a leader in this field and as with many things (auto emissions for example), eventually the rest of the U.S. will follow.  It's only a question of how long we fight it and drag our feet and resist inevitable and needed change.  I have two other posts (LinkHere & LinkHere) and how China is defeating in this important matter.
