Why do we help support the 2nd largest economy in the world?

China still gets foreign aid -  $2.5 billion a year -
But:

Spent billions on the Olympics
Is a horrific polluter
Many African nations are in more desperate need of the aid
In today's economic environment donor countries have difficulty maintaining this aid
Many argue use unfair trade practices & artificially deflate the value of their $
Spend minimally on their own infrastructure
Interestingly, arch enemy Japan gives $1.2 billion a year
Is investing heavily in a military buildup
Is the 2nd largest economy in the world
It can be argued that China is depriving other, poorer nations of aid by accepting this help
China provides 1.4 billion / yr in aid to Africa???
There are arguments for supporting this aid.  Please read the article (LinkHere) if you want more facts.  But overall I feel strongly that most aid should be greatly curtailed to entice China to correct many arguments against continuing this support.
