My snide comments, my news, what I see as important (Wed 102010)

China raises interest rates:
I did a post on this yesterday
Still big news.  I don't see it as a bad thing.

LATimes:  Thomas Wife Demands An Apology
Thomas is a jerk and obviously so is his wife.  I read once that the other justices basically shun him.  It's probably way to early, but I look forward to the day he retires.  Many of his decisions are not supported by relevant law or precedent and seldom reflect a well thought out perspective.  Refusing to recluse himself on the Monsanto case was shameful.

NYTimes: Headline: Income Inequality: Too Big to Ignore & America's Poor
and
Yahoo/HuffingtonPost: Where Poverty Is Rising In America
This topic is so obvious and such a no brainer that I don't really feel like writing about it.  But SOOOO many people mindlessly support the R's and don't bother to become informed about the facts that it just boggles my mind.  "Cut off my nose to spite my face" comes to mind.  Yes, listen to Beck/Limbaugh/O'Rilley to get your news.  No, don't bother to utilize any of the other, much more balanced information sources.  Don't read your local newspaper.  Don't watch CNN.  They of course are an example of the corrupt, left wing media.  For those of you to ignorant to understand this, I'm being sarcastic.

Huffington Post: and HuffPost:
Bank Profits Soar, Lending Falls As Banks Pay Next To Nothing For Funds
and
Foreclosure Fraud: Megabanks At Risk As Analyst Identifies New Problems With Mortgages

There's something intrinsically wrong with our banking system.

"Lending Falls" & profits up, but more banks are in danger of failing.  It's counter intuitive.  And no, it's not the Obama administrations fault.  On a related topic, see my post on why I don't believe the government has any meaningful control of the economy.
