My news - My way - My snide comments - Mon 102510

Headline – ‘End of Health Insurance by Employers Coming Soon?
Some employers are making threats, decreasing coverage and factoring in costs related to health care mandates that are not scheduled to affect them for another eight years.  Grow up you people.  I suspect that's not required under GAP accounting principles.  It’s not logical.  How far out do you fund your retirement accounts?

Headline – They Fought For the U.S. Now, They Could Be Deported.
The least we should do is notify these people BEFORE they serve that they could be deported.  And serving in the military for their country of residence should at least give them a second chance to prove themselves.

Headline – Lung Taste Receptors May Hold Key to Better Asthma Treatment
I had no idea we had taste buds in our lungs.  I wonder what the evolutionary need for that was?

Headline – Haiti Tries to Keep Cholera Out of Earthquake Camps
I believe we are at least partially responsible for this.  Only a fraction of the funds we have committed to Haiti for earthquake relief have been spent.

Headline – Recipients of Bailout Funds Giving Big to Politicians
More hypocrisy from the R’s.  But I doubt that the D’s are exactly pure and chaste in this regard.  It’s very ironic though to condemn a program and then take contributions from the recipients who received those same funds you condemn(ed).  A politician here in VA (Riggel) took money in the ‘Cash for Clunkers’ program and then derided that same program in his campaign for congress.

Headline - Election Day Could Bring Historic Split:  Democrats Lose House, Keep Senate
"Not since the election of 1930 has the House changed hands without the Senate following suit."
Anyway it's viewed it seems things are going to change after this coming election.

Headline - "Virginia gun dealers: Small number supply most guns tied to crimes"
“At Bob's Gun Shop in Norfolk, a woman accompanied by an 18-year-old with a long rap sheet bought a "Baby 9" for protection in November 2006. Seven weeks later, the teen stole a truck and used the 9mm pistol to execute a man who intervened.”
and
“Outside an Ace Hardware in Lynchburg, a teen paid a man $70 to buy a Hi-Point handgun for him in April 2008. Seven days later, the teen's gang stormed a gas mart, shot the clerk in the head and fled with wads of bloody cash.”
I live in VA now but I have also lived in SC, where they have an annual 'Tax Free Day' during which firearms can be purchased free of sales tax.  Yes, that's what we need in this country, more firearms.  It's obvious that our 'well armed militia' is grossly lacking in the firearms department.

Headlilne - "Mumbai billionaire's home boasts 27 floors, ocean and slum views."
How ostentatious.  I'll bet the owner of this home drives a Hummer with low profile wheels and tires.

Headline - "Mentally ill prisoners get a second chance"
We in the U.S. are so short sighted.  I wish programs like this would be implemented nationwide.  It's cheaper to treat someone than it is to incarcerate someone.

Headline - "Political books take on U.S. economy and 'tea party' rise"
"in 2007 the top .01% of American earners took home 6% of total U.S. wages"
So tell me again how the TP'ers are going to make the poor and middle class better off?  And tell me again how the middle class isn't disappearing?  And how does that work that the R's plan to implement tax cuts for the rich helps the middle and lower income brackets?  I keep forgetting.
